A Friday Night Out With School Pals At A Local College Club Leads To Excessive And Irresponsible Drinking And Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms

When Lois was in high school, she had secured a reputation as a studious person who rarely, if ever, drank with her pals. She seemed almost obsessed about "shining" academically so that she would be able to go after a career that she not only got pleasure from but one that also gave her a degree of security from a financial point of view.

After Lois graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into a prestigious program in sociology. Her analysis of her options regarding this decision was based on the fact that this subject area would be a good foundation for law school and would not be indistinguishable from the preponderance of law school applicants who choose political science as their undergraduate major or minor.

Lois was the kind of individual who worked thoroughly to finish what she was doing and then would take a couple of days off when she could. It just so happens, nonetheless, that most of the things she did between school sessions or during summer breaks did not have anything to do with drinking. Clearly, Lois was anything but a party-girl. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were completed and appreciating the fact that she had done very well on her finals, nonetheless, she wanted to let her hair down and do something besides going to college for a change.

So Lois and a few of her friends from the university went to a local pub where they had a few shots. As the evening proceeded, Lois and her pals continued to drink. If truth be told, she was having so much fun that she didn't want the night to end.

After drinking about seventy-five minutes when Lois started to slur her speech, talk in a confused manner, and then pass out, in spite of this, her pals immediately knew that they needed to call that they needed to call 911 and ask for medical assistance because they suspected that Lois was displaying alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was very aware that she had narrowly escaped death due to an alcohol overdose and, as a result, was pleased to be alive. At the same time, nonetheless, she was somewhat depressed knowing that she had almost passed away the previous night. Her Mother and Father were aware how relentlessly she worked at college and how little she permitted herself to have any fun. Nevertheless, they also knew that Lois needed to steer clear of irresponsible and excessive drinking.

As a result, they recommended that in the future, whenever a drinking circumstance develops, that she always drink in moderation. Lois was fine with this and assured her Mother and Father and her friends that she would never again drink in an excessive manner. In Lois's own words, "I never had an inkling that I would become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local newspaper. I now grasp the fact that abusive and careless drinking is not my style. I pledge that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "school smart" but she also had a lot of common sense. Stated differently, she rapidly understood that she had made a mistake and decided that she would not make the same mistake again. As a matter of fact, she now understood that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this kind of abusive and unhealthy drinking can result in death.
